Questions
The questions that come up before the call
Seventeen answers, each one short enough to read standing up.
Why do I rank on page one and get almost no clicks?
Because ranking and being chosen are two different problems. A page can sit in the top five and still be passed over, because what the searcher reads is the title and the description, not the position. That gap is the cheapest win in search: it is rewriting, not rebuilding, and it turns positions you already hold into clicks.
What is keyword cannibalisation?
It is when several pages of your own site compete for the same term, so the domain splits its authority between them instead of concentrating it. On Black Wolf K-9 four URLs compete on the core term. It is visible in Search Console, it caps how high that term can go, and it is one of the first things I look for.
Why doesn't my WordPress site show up on Google even though it looks good?
Because design and structure are different layers, and search reads the second one. A site can look finished and still carry URLs named for internal reasons, pages competing with each other, and copy written to please the owner rather than answer a query.
Should SEO be done before or after the site is designed?
Before. On Black Wolf K-9 the content architecture was decided before the design started, and the twelve month result rests on that single ordering decision. Search work that arrives after the build spends its first year correcting instead of constructing.
Is installing an SEO plugin the same as doing SEO?
No. A plugin manages tags and sitemaps. It does not decide which pages exist, how they group, or which one owns a term, and those are the decisions that determine whether the site can rank at all.
Does FAQ structured data still help pages get cited in AI answers?
It makes the page eligible for rich results, and that is as far as the claim goes: Google decides placement. On Art Firm six sections emit FAQPage JSON-LD built from the same blocks the client edits, so the markup cannot drift away from the visible answer.
How do I increase clicks without writing more blog posts?
Rewrite the titles and descriptions of the positions you already hold. Most sites in the top five sit well under the click rate that range should give them, and closing that gap can double the clicks without publishing a single new page. It is the cheapest win in search and almost nobody does it.
My Search Console shows high impressions and low clicks, what does that mean?
It means Google is showing you and people are choosing somebody else. Impressions measure visibility; clicks measure the promise in your title and description. The work is in the wording of the result, not in the ranking.
Is it bad if several pages on my site target the same keyword?
Yes. It splits the domain authority across pages that should be reinforcing one, and it limits how high that term can rank. It is fixed by consolidating intent into a single owner page, not by publishing more content around it.
How do you plan a website's URL structure for SEO before designing it?
You decide which pages exist, which term each one owns and how they group, before anyone opens a design file. On Black Wolf K-9 that meant two content pillars chosen against keyword research, with the copy written to the keyword before the page existed.
Can one pillar page really carry most of a site's organic traffic?
Yes, and it is usually the sign of a pillar built properly. On Black Wolf K-9 the main pillar sits at position 1.9 and accounts for 61% of the domain's entire organic traffic. One page, written for the term the market actually types, can outperform a hundred thin ones.
What should a twelve-month SEO programme have produced by month twelve?
Enquiries, and positions on the terms the market actually types. On Black Wolf K-9 that was eight to twelve qualified purchase and training requests a month, 15 commercial terms at position 1 or 2, and demand from 16 countries, with nothing spent on ads.
How do I verify SEO results myself instead of trusting someone’s dashboard?
Count the enquiries that reach you, then open your own Search Console and read three numbers: clicks, average position and countries. Every figure published about Black Wolf K-9 comes from the client’s own property, which is why it can be checked without asking me.
How should I structure the pages of a new website so it ranks?
One page per intent, one owner per term, and a pillar that the rest supports. Deciding it first matters because changing it later costs redirects and the history attached to the old URLs.
My web designer says the site is SEO ready, how do I check if that's true?
Ask which term each page owns, and what happens when two pages want the same one. If there is no answer to the second question, the site is styled rather than structured.
How do I add FAQ schema that stays correct when the content team edits the answers?
Generate the markup from the same blocks the editor edits, instead of maintaining a second copy by hand. On Art Firm six sections build their FAQPage JSON-LD by walking their own blocks, so editing a question updates the schema in the same action.
Why did my FAQ rich results disappear after we updated the page?
Usually because the visible content and the structured data stopped matching. Hand maintained markup drifts the first time somebody edits the copy and forgets the JSON-LD. Generating one from the other removes the failure mode entirely.
